Hi,

My son is progressing Animation, Photography and Video through Higher education and University courses. We only have auto cameras and his higher photography teacher has suggested a camera that is not automatic but manual for him to learn all aspects of the camera. He will rent a camera but would like his own to experiment away from school.

Can anyone recommend what to look for / any good cameras that will stand the time through to university . Also any software as well... We have adobe software.
Thank you.

It would really depend on the budget, and how serious this expedition into photography is.
At the lower end, something like a Nikon D3500 or Canon Rebel Ti series is a budget friendly option (Note: The rebel T and Ti series are different, with the T not being as recommended).
A next step up into the enthusiast range would be a camera like an 80D.
